About the Chat

Nebraska Extension is partnered with the Nebraska Food Council and its members to host an online virtual meeting space for producers and other food system workers. Topics, presenters, dates, and times are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Email vwielenga2@unl.edu to share ideas or make a request.

Goals for the Chat

  • Implement best practices for physical-distancing
  • Implement new ways to reach customers
  • Increase effectiveness of distribution channels and/or aggregation partnerships
  • Help Nebraskans enhance their lives through research-based education

Who Should Connect

Producers who raise food for human consumption who already, or desire to, sell locally/regionally as well as topic-specific experts as appropriate.

What to Expect

The Chat:

There will be four components during the hour

  1. Filter in and enjoy chit chat with a hot or iced beverage

  2. Networking time using virtual break-out rooms

  3. Brief presentation

  4. Q&A and conversation

Chat Follow Up and Next Steps:

When needed, additional meetings will be hosted and facilitated to continue the conversation between smaller groups. Potential call topics will be gathered during each chat for future events. Resources and notes will be shared via email to those on the call and posted online on this webpage.
